Hello. I’m Frank Miles Richert and I personally welcome you to FMR-Photography. I hope you enjoy reading a little about me before you explore my website.
I was raised in historic Lemont, Illinois, a small town just southwest of Chicago. Legend has it that some of the earliest Midwest settlers came to this region because of the great opportunities for work along the Des Plaines River (one of my first subjects). Those early settlers discovered a unique limestone as they dug the main canal that flows through the town, and that limestone was later used for several local architectural creations, such as Lemont’s beautiful churches, as well as one of Chicago’s own gems—The Water Tower. The beauty and charm of my authentic hometown molded my love for photography, and I have been inspired ever since to capture and share with the world the art of nature’s beauty.
In my early 20’s I took my first road trip to the majestic Yellowstone National Park. This experience moved me so that I made it my mission to travel the lower 48 states by car and photograph landscapes and wildlife along the way. I am excited to say that by the time I reached 30 years of age my mission was accomplished. In my travels to date I have particularly fallen in love with Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Crater Lake, Oregon; and Lake Tahoe, California. The Teton Mountain Range of Wyoming offers one-of-a-kind mountainous views. The blue waters of Crater Lake and Lake Tahoe cannot be matched. As well, the opportunities for photographing wildlife are never-ending in Wyoming, my most favorite place of all. I have also been to the untouched wilds of Alaska and intend to get to Hawaii, which will complete my travels through the grandiose United States of America. My camera has been, and will always be, my faithful companion each step of the way.
I still have many places to see and millions of photos to take, but in the meantime I invite you to enjoy my life’s work thus far. As you peruse through this hand-picked selection of my favorite photographs, you may notice my English Bull Terrier, Tank, making cameo appearances. Please know that Tank’s smiling face is an expression of thanks for your interest in “our” work. Enjoy!
